DNAH has moved to Hymnary.org
www.dnah.org
Welcome to the DNAH website. The Dictionary of North American Hymnology indexes the contents of 4876 hymnals, published in North America between 1640 and 1978, and over one million hymns contained in these publications. Originally created as a handwritten index, the DNAH was eventually transferred to microfilm, then issued as a CD-ROM in 2003. For the past year, this website has presented the complete index from the CD-ROM searchable via the web. During the last meeting of the Hymn Society, the parent organization that has sponsored and developed the DNAH, a historic agreement was reached between the Hymn Society and the Christian Classics Ethereal Library (CCEL) to move the DNAH to the website of Hymnary.org. On 1 August 2009, CCEL announced that the DNAH database had been made available and that the contents can now be searched through the Hymnary.org website. The launch of this valuable work provides scholars and devotees of hymnody access to valuable tools for research, inquiry and enjoyment through a single elegant website. Since the Hymnary.org website now also supercedes this website, dnah.org will cease to function on 1 September 2009. Those who may have bookmarked this site are encouraged to point their bookmarks to the Hymnary.org website. The DNAH project is grateful to the many scholars and participants who added immeasurably to the launch of this site and who made the DNAH project a reality.
